By car

  • From Paris, Dijon or Lyon: A39 motorway, exit Poligny, then N5 towards Champagnole and Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux, Morbier, Bellefontaine and Chapelle-des-Bois.
  • From Besançon and the north: A36 then N57 towards Pontarlier, D437 towards Mouthe, then Chaux-Neuve and Chapelle-des-Bois.
  • From Switzerland: Vallorbe or the Vallée de Joux (Le Brassus), Bois-d’Amont, Bellefontaine, Chapelle-des-Bois.
  • In winter, winter tyres or chains are compulsory from 1 November to 31 March (Mountain Law). Roads are cleared, but the village sits at 1,100 m.

By train

  • Frasne TGV station (38 km): Paris – Lausanne line, TGV Lyria, Paris-Gare de Lyon in 2 h 46. TER connection to Pontarlier.
  • Morez station (15 km): the Ligne des Hirondelles, a scenic Dole – Saint-Claude line with 36 tunnels and 18 viaducts.
  • Vallorbe station (Switzerland): TGV Lyria stop, about 40 km away.

By plane

  • Geneva (GVA), about 75 km and 1 h 20: the nearest airport, with car hire on the French or Swiss side.
  • Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS): about 2 h 30. Basel-Mulhouse (BSL): about 2 h 30.
