What time can we arrive, and when do we need to leave?
As a rule, homes are available from 4 pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure. We are happy to adapt when the schedule allows: just tell us your travel times.
Are sheets and towels provided?
Duvets, pillows and blankets are provided in every home. Bed linen and towels are to be brought with you, or can be hired on request when booking.
Are heating and electricity included in the price?
Yes. Our rates include heating, water and electricity, as well as firewood for the stove in the chalets. No surprises on the bill, even in the depths of winter.
Can we rent for a weekend or a few nights?
Rentals are by the week, Saturday to Saturday, and you can book several weeks in a row. For a special request (other days, a shorter stay), send us your dates: we consider every request.
How far are the cross-country ski trails?
The trail head for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is a one-minute walk from the chalets: you clip into your skis at the door. The village centre, with shops and equipment hire, is a five-minute walk.
Is there Wi-Fi and a TV?
Yes, every home has high-speed internet and a television.
Do we need winter tyres or snow chains?
Chapelle-des-Bois sits at 1,100 m and roads can be snow-covered from December to March. Winter tyres or chains are strongly recommended, and are compulsory under the French Mountain Law from 1 November to 31 March.
Are pets allowed?
Please ask before booking, telling us what kind of animal; we answer case by case.
How does payment work?
A deposit is requested to confirm the booking; the balance is paid before arrival. A security deposit is taken when the keys are handed over and returned after the check-out inspection. We accept bank transfer and cheque.
Can several families or a group stay together?
That is one of the strengths of Les Hauts Bois: six independent homes on one site, 46 beds in all. Each family has its own chalet or gîte, and everyone meets on the terraces or on the trails. Ask us for a group quote.
